•
An examination represents 100% of a final mark.
•
A final grade of 75% (minimum) must be achieved to successfully complete
each course.
•
Students are granted two opportunities to write an examination: the
original scheduled date and, if necessary, one rescheduled date. If a failing
grade is received on the second attempt, the entire course must be repeated.
Rescheduling
Examinations
Classroom
students
are expected to write the scheduled classroom examination. If a student is
unable to write the examination on the scheduled date, a $50 non-refundable
administration fee will be charged to the student to reschedule the examination
date to a later date, which will count as the second and final opportunity to
write the examination. The request must be made at least seven calendar days
before the chosen examination date. If a student is unable to write the
examination on the rescheduled date,
the course must be paid for and repeated in its entirety.
E-learning
and Correspondence
students may select an examination date earlier
than the initially scheduled date provided that the request is made at
least seven calendar days before the chosen examination date. The first request
for an earlier date will be accommodated at no charge. If a student is unable
to write the examination on the rescheduled
date, and requests a new date, a $50 non-refundable administration fee
will be charged. However, if e-learning and
correspondence students reschedule their examination beyond the initially
scheduled date, a loss of the first attempt occurs and the new scheduled date
becomes the student’s second and final opportunity to write the examination.
•
Students are required to select a preferred Examination Centre upon
enrollment for the course (see locations above).
•
All examinations are based on a time limit of 3 hours.
•
Students who arrive late are not permitted to write an examination. The
student automatically forfeits one out of the two opportunities permitted to
write the examination.
• Students
must present photo identification such as a driver’s licence or passport, and
their name must be included on the e-roster to write an examination.
There are no exceptions.
•
Dates may be cancelled and/or Examination Centres may be closed without
notice due to unforeseen circumstances. This will not count as a missed
examination opportunity.
•
The use of battery-powered portable or laptop computers and the
CD-ROM
version of the
Real Estate Encyclopedia
is only permitted in the classroom,
but
prohibited
during the examination.
•
Completed examinations are the sole property of the College.
Anyone
who engages in misconduct and/or does not heed the
test administrator’s warning to discontinue inappropriate behavior may be
dismissed from the test centre and be given a mark of “zero” on the
examination. All of the following behaviours are considered to be misconduct:
•
Giving or receiving assistance of any kind to/from another student.
•
Using any prohibited aids (prohibited aids are any device or material
that will be helpful in taking the exam. Examples include dictionaries,
conversion tables, notes affixed, glued or otherwise attached or inserted into
the Real
Estate Encyclopedia/
Provincial Reference Manual
etc.).
•
Attempting to take the exam for someone else.
•
Failure to follow testing regulations or the instructions of the test
administrator.
•
Creating a disturbance of any kind.
•
Removing or attempting to remove examination questions and/or responses
(in any format) or notes about the exam from the testing room.
Students
who are found to be in breach of examination procedures will be subject to
disciplinary action. No right of appeal exists for discipline imposed as a
result of breaches of examination procedures. The discipline/appeal process is
documented and is available from the College.
The
College
Program Standards require that your identification
(ID)
meet all of the criteria listed below. There will be no exceptions to this
policy.
ID must:
•
Be current and valid – it cannot be expired:
•
Contain your photo:
•
Be issued by a government agency; and
•
Be a single document
Your
ID
will be inspected prior to the start of the examination. If your
ID
is determined to be invalid, you will not be admitted to the examination. Use
of an invalid
ID is
considered a violation of the College Program Standards and will result in
voiding of examination results.
•
Examination results are processed in sequence and cannot be rushed to
facilitate enrollment in another course.
•
It takes approximately three weeks to process a transcript.
•
Transcripts are posted online and will be accessible by the student
through their
My Portfolio
account. Visit
www.oreacollege.com.
•
Marks will not be provided by telephone or by fax.
•
Transcripts will not be sent to a third party unless the student’s
written authorization and mailing instructions have been received by the
College.
Candidates
are required to read and abide by all applicable
College
Program Standards. Candidates must
abide by the test
administrators’ verbal instructions and by the acknowledgement printed on each
examination book.
Any
violation of the examination rules will result, at the very minimum, in a
student’s disqualification from the examination and potentially from the
College courses and examinations for a minimum period of one year.
•
A student is granted two opportunities to write an examination. If the
minimum pass of 75% is not achieved on the first examination attempt, an
examination re-write date may be requested and scheduled.
•
If a student fails an initial examination, an evaluation sheet will be
mailed. An official transcript will be sent to the student’s
My Portfolio
account. The evaluation sheet identifies areas that require further study. A
request for a re-write examination date with the desired Examination Centre
location must be made at least seven calendar days
before the examination date. There is a $50 non-refundable charge to
re-write an examination.
•
If a student fails a re-write examination, the entire course must be
repeated.
•
A review with an instructor may be requested only for failed
examinations.
•
A request for a review must be made to the College. The student will be
charged a $50 non-refundable administration fee payable
at the time of the request.
•
The request must be made to the College within three months of the date
of the examination.
•
Students who request an examination review will be given the opportunity
to meet with an instructor. The instructor will provide an overview of
curriculum which requires further study, discuss the problem areas and indicate
specific course material which must be reviewed to succeed in identified
topics. Please be advised that in the course of the exam review session,
students will not be provided access to specific examination
questions/solutions.
Rush
Marking
·
Rush marking is available only to students in the Articling Phase whose renewal
registration with the Real Estate Council of
Ontario
is
in jeopardy.
·
Students who wish to have their examinations rush marked are asked to contact
the College. A non-refundable administration fee of $50 will be processed to
facilitate this request.
If
you have a documented visual, physical, hearing, or learning
disability that would prevent you from taking the examination under standard
conditions, you may request special testing accommodations and arrangements.
Students
with physical and/or learning disabilities must provide documentation from a
licensed professional who is treating the existing disability.
In
considering your request for special accommodations, the College is guided by a
sense of fairness. Special accommodations are granted to give you the
opportunity to be examined in an equivalent manner with other students, but not
to provide an advantage over other students. Special accommodation requests
will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
The College
reserves the right to amend course schedules, fees, content, policies,
standards, workbooks, encyclopedias, provincial reference manuals, and other
reference materials without notice at its sole and absolute discretion.
Students may be required at any time to purchase new course materials or incur
other expenses during their program, due to such changes.
The
College will not be liable whatsoever
for any interruption or cancellation of academic activities set forth in this
guide and any related online or print publications.
Where
a student is unable to complete Phases 1, 2 and 3 within the 18-month timeline,
due to medical circumstances, an opportunity may be given to the student to
challenge the examination(s) for course(s) successfully completed (Phase 1
and/or Phase 2). The challenge exam(s) must be written within three months of
the 18-month expiry date. Eligibility for this provision is at the sole and
absolute discretion of the College.
Important The
Income Tax Act
provides that tuition fees do not include any fee or charge levied for property
to be acquired by the student. Therefore, course materials are not tax
deductible. Income Tax receipts issued by the College show the deductible
tuition amount, which does not include the cost of course materials.
The
only exception allowed by the Canada Revenue Agency pertains to
e-learning/correspondence courses where the cost of course materials is
considered part of the tuition. Therefore, for e-learning/correspondence
courses only, an income tax receipt is issued for the combined costs of tuition
and course materials.
•
Income tax receipts will be sent to the student’s
My Portfolio
account.
•
Income tax receipts/duplicates are issued by the Institution where the
course was taken.
The
education prerequisites for each individual course are
indicated under specific course descriptions on the

•
A registered student with a student identification number is prohibited
from requesting a new registration or profile, either online or by any other

revising program requirements and fees at any time.
•
The College
reserves all rights to make final interpretations of all standards and
policies relating to the Real Estate Career Guide,

plagiarism, cheating, impersonation, and coaching another student during the
examination will not be tolerated. Any violation of the examination rules will
result, at the very minimum, in a student’s disqualification from the
examination and potentially from
the College
courses and examinations for a minimum period of one year. A procedure is in
place to give students the opportunity to appeal discipline decisions resulting
from alleged cheating. No appeal is available for discipline imposed as a
result of breaches of examination procedures. An example would include
affixing, gluing or otherwise attaching notes to the Real Estate
Encyclopedia/Provincial Reference Manual. The Discipline and Appeal process is
documented and is available from the College.
Students
are required to do the readings and to complete exercises and assignments as
part of the learning process.
